TOWN OF FORT SHERIDAN
MASTER HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER
FEBRUARY 2002
You are encouraged to attend an informational meeting regarding the planning and development of the Fort Sheridan golf course, community center and surrounding trails. Bob Buhai, Commissioner of the Lake County Forest Preserve District, as well as several staff members involved with planning and development, revenue and cultural development, will provide an update of the redevelopment. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions about this most important project. Following that topic, our State Representative, Susan Garrett, will conduct a question/answer session for any other concerns you would like to bring to her attention. Mark Kirk, our U.S. Congressman and resident here at the Fort, plans to attend if he is available. All Fort Sheridan residents are encouraged to attend!
Monday, February 25, 7 p.m. at the Hotel Moraine
A committee is being formed to encourage progress on the abovementioned golf course development. The committee will be headed up by Jim Fitzgerald and will work with the Lake County Forest Preserve District officials to express our opinions on the project and move it forward. Would you like to help? See the enclosed committee candidate form. Call Jim with questions at (847) 970-1111.
The Town of Fort Sheridan has an opportunity to acquire the historic theater building on Leonard Wood West. The Association plans to form a committee at the February 12 homeowners meeting to investigate the possibility of acquiring and renovating the historic theater building for the use of the Town of Fort Sheridan. See the enclosed committee candidate form. Call Jim Drake with questions at (847) 681-2802.
Our next newsletter will be in a new and much improved format! We will be putting together a monthly, four-page newsletter with several sections including (some every month, some only periodically)
This newsletter is going to be GORGEOUS because one of our neighbors, Sandy Tepper, a graphic designer, has graciously volunteered to design it. And thanks to Boyd Morros and Lana Thorstensen who will be helping write the content, and to Steve MacFarlan who is going to help “get it out the door”.
We will send out the newsletter on the first of each month. If you have dates, postings, or “easy information” you would like included, please get it to me by the 14th of each (previous) month. If you would like to contribute an article or more substantial information, get it to me by the 10th.
Thanks, Krista Hanson - phone (847) 681-9775 – e-mail kristahanson@attbi.com.
Our Board of Directors is in the process of interviewing several management firms and hopes to select one in the next 30-60 days. If you have any questions about the process, contact Rick Collins at (847) 681-9281.
Board of Directors meetings have been scheduled on the second Tuesday of each month. Interested homeowners may attend. The next meeting will be Tuesday, February 12, 7:00 p.m. at the Midwest Young Artists Building, 878 Lyster Road. Among other important issues, we will discuss the establishment of a new committee to investigate the possibility of acquiring and renovating the historic theater building for the use of the Town of Fort Sheridan.
We have received many replies from residents who wish to be included in the Town of Fort Sheridan Directory. Thanks for your interest! If you have not sent in your form or e-mailed me, do so soon!
